We are proud & thankful for all our Sunset PTO volunteers. Thank you for boosting the efforts of our school, staff, students & community.

Questions can be directed to our Sunset PTO Volunteer Coordinator (volunteers@sunsetpto.com).

Volunteer Requirements

  • BSD has moved to a new volunteer background security system (Raptor).

ALL PARENTS & COMMUNITY MEMBERS MUST REAPPLY THROUGH RAPTOR.

In order to volunteer on site and during school hours, volunteers & visitors must review training materials & complete background check through the Beaverton School District system.

  • School-sponsored events & activities are now being scheduled through ParentSquare.

Volunteers can view theses signups in various ways.

    • Option 1: Parents and guests can scroll through their ParentSquare feed to view sign ups. They can also use the search option in their feed.

    • Option 2: On the right side of the desktop version, there is a list of Sign ups and RSVPs related to that user.

    • Option 3: Under Participate on the left side of the desktop version, there is a Sign ups and RSVPs option.

    • Option 4: On the ParentSquare app, the user can click the "More" tab in the bottom right corner, then click "Sign-ups & RSVPs" for a full list of sign-ups.

**Because our concessions efforts are not school sponsored, and also include students, Sunset PTO uses Sign-up genius for concessions scheduling.

  • If you are a community volunteer (without a student enrolled at Sunset), make sure you complete the "Join Community Groups" form after you get your Raptor approval.

This will give you access to all of the opportunities to volunteer at the school by adding you to the ParentSquare notifications.

Current Opportunities

  • Our concessions sales support our athletic programs, bring in valuable fundraising dollars, & help support community building. Because these efforts are not school-sponsored, Sunset PTO is able to use Sign-up Genius for scheduling.

Students (age 14+ ) are also welcome to sign-up.

    WINTER 2024/2025 ATHLETIC SUPPORT:

    Boys Basketball

    Girls Basketball

    Wrestling

  • All school-sponsored volunteering requires a Raptor background check.

Keep checking back for upcoming opportunities.

  • Work through Sunset’s College & Career Center to work one-on-one with Sunset juniors & seniors to support their post-high school plans.

More info can be found at the ASPIRE volunteer page.

  • Keep looking back for opportunities!

  • The annual Sunset Grad Party is held annually on the night of graduation to provide seniors with a safe & fun-filled celebration.

Contact gradparty@sunsetpto.com if you are interested in joining their planning team & be on the lookout for volunteer opportunities throughout the year.

Volunteering FAQ

  • You'll receive an email when your application is received and another email when your application has been approved with instructions on how to set up your user profile in Raptor.

Once that's complete, you can view and sign up for volunteer opportunities at the school and district sites that you selected.

  • You will not receive a confirmation email through ParentSquare when you initially sign up.

However, you will receive a reminder email at 8am on the day before you volunteer.

In the ParentSquare app, uou can view your sign-ups at any time by clicking "More," then "Sign-Ups & RSVPs," then "My Sign-ups."

  • Signing in at the school for all visitors and volunteers will be handled through the front office staff and the Raptor system.

Each time you arrive at the school to volunteer you will want to arrive early to give yourself enough time to get checked in at the front office.

You will be asked to present a government-issued identification (ID) with photo and birth date. Examples include:

    • Driver’s license

    • State ID card

    • Passport

    • Consular ID card

Scan your ID at the available iPad, take a selfie, and print an official name badge for you that day.

Wear your sticker badge at all times while in the school

REMINDER: Make sure you stop back by the front office at the end of your volunteer shift to sign out. You will need to scan your printed daily badge at the iPad to do so.

  • Head to the same station that you checked in at earlier in the day. Click "sign out" on the iPad & scan the bar code on your printed name tag.

  • Yes! Within ParentSquare, click on the "Participate" tab. The drop-down menu should include "Volunteer Hours" where you can manually add hours spent volunteering at home.

  • Volunteers are welcome to park where they can find a spot, preferably in the two front lots outside the main office and along the THPRD fields.

Please ensure that your volunteer parking badge is visible in order to avoid the dreaded parking enforcement sticker.

Temporary badges can be found in the main office at the time of check-in or you may be given a more permanent pass.

Only volunteers who have passed the Raptor background check will be issued a parking pass.

  • Yes! On the ParentSquare app, the user can click the "More" tab in the bottom right corner, then click "Sign-ups & RSVPs" for a full list of sign-ups.

Tab to the "My Sign-ups" to view any that you have already signed up for.

  • When you sign-up for a Concessions shift, you will receive a confirmation email from Sign-up genius that includes a calendar invite, as well as a pdf of instructions & a map to show you were to go.

Don't hesitate to email our Concessions co-chairs at concessions@sunsetpto.com with questions.
